Welcome to Qinektd. This document outlines both our Terms of Use and Privacy Policy. By creating an account or using Qinektd, you agree to the terms below.

TERMS OF USE

1. EligibilityQinektd is intended for users 18 and older who are acting as unpaid or paid caregivers. You agree to provide accurate, complete information and not use the app for any unlawful purpose.

2. Profile Content and User ConductYou are responsible for the content you upload including your profile photo, caregiving details, and any information you share with other users. You agree not to impersonate others, post harmful content, harass other users, or misuse the app in any way. We reserve the right to remove content or deactivate accounts that violate our community standards or applicable law.

3. Information Visible to Other UsersWhen you create a profile on Qinektd, certain information you provide may be visible to other users for the purpose of peer matching. This may include your name, photo, location (ZIP code area), age range, gender, caregiving relationship, care recipient details, health conditions and challenges you choose to disclose, languages spoken, cultural background, religion, and veteran status. You control what you share. We encourage you to only share what you are comfortable with other users seeing.

4. Intellectual PropertyAll content, design, and technology within Qinektd is owned by Qinektd LLC. You may not copy, reproduce, or distribute any part of the app without written permission.

5. Subscriptions and Paid FeaturesQinektd offers free and paid tiers with different levels of access. Paid subscriptions are processed through Apple's in-app purchase system. You agree to the pricing and terms shown at the time of purchase. You may cancel your subscription at any time through your device's App Store settings. You may restore a previous purchase at any time using the Restore Purchases option in the app.

6. DisclaimerQinektd is a platform to help caregivers connect with peers. We do not provide medical advice, clinical services, or guaranteed matches. All connections and interactions are at your own discretion. Qinektd is not a crisis service. If you are in crisis, please contact 988 (Suicide and Crisis Lifeline) or 911.

7. Governing LawThese Terms are governed by the laws of the Commonwealth of Virginia.

8. Changes to These TermsWe may update these Terms from time to time. Continued use of the app after changes are posted constitutes acceptance of the updated Terms.

PRIVACY POLICY

1. Information We Collect

Account InformationWhen you sign up, we collect your email address and password through our secure authentication system. We also collect a profile photo.

Profile InformationYou may optionally provide your name, ZIP code, age range, gender, marital status, languages spoken, religion, cultural background, veteran status, caregiving relationship type, years in caregiving role, hours per week, care recipient diagnosis and demographics, health conditions and challenges, caregiving stage, availability, and meeting preferences.

Wellness Assessment DataIf you choose to complete our optional wellness assessments (Zarit Burden Interview / ZBI-12, Patient Health Questionnaire / PHQ-9, and Generalized Anxiety Disorder scale / GAD-7), we collect your responses and scores. This data is stored securely and used to personalize your experience and track your wellness over time. This is entirely voluntary.

Usage and Activity DataWe collect information about how you use the app including sessions, activity, and engagement to improve the platform and for internal analytics.

Push Notification DataIf you enable push notifications, we collect your device push token, notification preferences, time zone, and language settings.

MessagesMessages sent between users are stored securely in our database to enable conversation history.

2. How We Use Your Information

• To match you with compatible caregiver peers using a combination of profile criteria and AI-powered semantic matching
• To deliver messages between users
• To send push notifications and daily wellness uplifts if enabled
• To track your wellness progress over time through assessment scores
• To improve the app and user experience
• To communicate with you about your account

3. AI-Powered Matching Qinektd uses artificial intelligence to improve the quality of peer matches. Your profile description and caregiving story may be processed by OpenAI's embedding technology to identify compatible matches based on similarity. No personally identifiable information is sent to OpenAI — only text descriptions used for matching purposes.

4. Identity Verification If you choose to complete selfie identity verification, your photo is compared against your profile photo using AWS Rekognition facial comparison technology. Your selfie is used only for this verification and is not stored permanently by Qinektd.

5. Message Translation If you use the message translation feature, your message text is sent to Google Cloud Translation to provide translation. No personally identifiable information is included in translation requests.

6. HIPAA Considerations Qinektd is not a healthcare provider, health insurance company, or healthcare clearinghouse and is therefore not a HIPAA-covered entity. The wellness assessments and health-related profile fields in Qinektd are voluntary tools for peer connection and personal wellness tracking — not clinical services. However, we treat your privacy seriously and use industry-standard safeguards to protect any sensitive data you choose to share. By using Qinektd, you acknowledge that the app is not a HIPAA-covered entity and that information shared through the platform is not protected health information under HIPAA.

7. Research and Aggregate Data We may use anonymized, aggregate data — meaning data that cannot identify any individual user — for research purposes, internal analysis, partnerships, or licensing to third parties including academic institutions, healthcare organizations, and government agencies. This data contains no names, email addresses, or any information that could identify you personally.

8. Data Sharing  We do not sell your personal information. We may share your information with third-party service providers only as necessary to operate the app. These include:

• Supabase — secure database hosting and authentication
• OpenAI — AI-powered matching (anonymized text only)
• AWS Rekognition — identity verification (photo comparison only)
• Google Cloud Translation — message translation
• Resend — transactional email notifications
• Expo — push notification delivery
• RevenueCat — subscription and in-app purchase management
• Zippopotam.us — ZIP code validation

We do not share your personal information with advertisers.

9. Data Retention  We retain your data for as long as your account is active. If you delete your account, your profile is anonymized and your authentication credentials are permanently removed. You may delete your account at any time directly from within the app.

10. Security We use encryption and industry-standard security practices to protect your data including secure authentication, encrypted data transmission, and access controls. No method of transmission or storage is 100% secure, but we work diligently to protect your information and maintain your trust.

11. California Residents (CCPA) If you are a California resident, you have the right to know what personal information we collect, request deletion of your personal information, and opt out of the sale of your personal information. 12. Virginia Residents (VCDPA) If you are a Virginia resident, you have rights under the Virginia Consumer Data Protection Act including the right to access, correct, delete, and obtain a copy of your personal data. To exercise your rights, contact us at qinektd@icloud.com.

13. Children's Privacy Qinektd is intended for users 18 and older. We do not knowingly collect information from anyone under 18. If we become aware that a minor has created an account, we will delete it promptly.

14. Changes to This Policy We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. We will notify you of significant changes through the app or by email. Continued use of the app after changes are posted constitutes acceptance of the updated policy.
